KASIE

DIRECTOR OF HOSPITALITY

I am from a quaint and very Swiss community, aptly named Berne, Indiana. I was raised by a single (at the time!) father and experienced all of the joys that such a life entailed: a mullet, BMX racing, muskrat trapping, and the like. I received my BA from Taylor University in Communication Studies with a PR Minor and haven't stopped communicating since!

My husband, Chris, and I have been together since high school and married in April of 2007. We are the proud parents of one Boston Terrier, Lola, and live here in Fishers. He works with computers (I stand corrected: he is a "Senior Software Consultant"). I am a professional wife. Feel free to ask me about that.

It took us about a year to find a church home after we got married and at first we weren't sold on Crosspoint. Coming from a small town, we were both used to traditional churches where you sit in pews under a steeple and sing hymns and doodle on your bulletin instead of listening to the sermon. Yet we kept coming back and soon realized that this group of people called "Crosspoint" was really that: a group of people who, like us, didn't have it all together and were working together loving God and one another as they tried to figure it out! At the end of the day, it worked for us. We grew to love our fellow members and as we became more invested, began volunteering in a variety of ministries. Now I leave each Sunday service with fuel for the week ahead and so look forward to Monday nights when we meet with our Life Together Group.

WHAT YOU MIGHT SEE ME DOING AT XPT:
I serve as Connections Director at Crosspoint. This position allows me to hang out with everyone before, in between, and after the services and communicate! (My dad appreciates that I'm using my education!:) Not only that, I am blessed with the opportunity to work with a group of people who are so passionate about making Crosspoint a safe, welcoming environment for first-time and frequent attendees alike. Any greeting you receive from the entrance to grabbing your cup of coffee to dropping your kids off at their class is from these amazing volunteers who are devoted to sharing life together with the people who walk through our doors. I am thrilled to be working alongside them!

Everyone says, "Do what you love" and I absolutely love being with people! I love making them feel welcome and offering a warm hug or a listening ear. I like people- watching and learning what makes others tick. I am an extrovert to a fault and truly enjoy being in community with others. I am so excited to get to know everyone better!

CURRENTLY LISTENING TO:
Hmm... this is a hard one. I don't really listen to the radio and if I do it's the Christian station out of Anderson. I didn't know who Lady Gaga was for almost a year. I just replay the same 6 CD's over and over again in my car or listen to whatever my husband introduces me to. Right now, my ears have been opened to Vampire Weekend and I rather like it. I also enjoy Corinne Bailey Rae. So, I guess that's my answer to that...

CURRENTLY READING:
Again, don't really read much. I get on a kick if I like an author but tend to lose interest quickly. Authors I like are Kristen Billerbeck and Denise Hildreth (oddly, both Christian fiction writers!) I can tell you what I don't like: really sad books (No thank you, Nicholas Sparks) and anything over 350 pages--I already received my degree, thank you very much!

TV SHOWS THAT I'M ADDICTED TO:

TV shows definitely include Modern Family, True Blood, and 24. The Thursday shows like Community and The Office are enjoyable too, but I usually just catch up on Hulu.

MOVIES I COULD WATCH ON REPEAT:
Movies carry the same rules as books: nothing too sad where someone loses a husband or dog, and nothing longer than 3 hours! I have a broad taste so if I've taken the time to see it, I've probably liked it!

THREE FOODS I'D DIE FOR:
1. Sushi
2. Twizzlers
3. Sushi
(And I'd wash it all down with black coffee!)

WEBSITES I FREQUENT:
People.com, Facebook.com, Target.com, Gorgeouslygreen.com

WHEN I GET FREE TIME, I LIKE TO:
Clean my house.  Seriously.  And meet friends for coffee or lunch.  Did I mention I like being with people?!

FAVORITE TEAMS:
Colts (because I just love them!)
Michigan Wolverines (because my husband loves them!)

LIFE THOUGHTS:
Control the "controllables."
