We all want to go to new places in our families, relationships, careers – in life. The barriers that prevent us from going to new places typically either get avoided, or if we choose to face them, we do so poorly. To create breakthroughs, we must face the barriers head on and handle them well. The key is not in a one-time solution, but in everyday decisions that strengthen. Daily decisions that strengthen our relationships, kick-start our careers, and improves our health.

Join us throughout the month of January as we seek to create everyday breakthroughs that allow us to go to new places.

WK 255// 010812// RELATIONSHIP BREAKTHROUGHS

Advisory Team Member and close friend of Crosspoint Scott McDonald joins Curt this weekend in the setup week for this new series. Explaining how we’re wired to handle difficulties in relationships and communication poorly, Scott and Curt discuss how taking the time to have a difficult conversation can lead to a healthier, happier relationship… and life.

WK 256// 011512// CAREER BREAKTHROUGHS

Scott McDonald joins Curt again this week to discuss breakthroughs in our careers. Everyone seems to have a dreaded “public enemy #1″ or “Darth Vader” in their work place. But, rarely do we see that the “stories” we’re most likely making up about these people have become truth to us… when they’re not factual at all. We all tell stories that we start to take as truth. Finding the corrective action to break the cycle is the trick to breakthroughs in our careers.

WK 257// 012212// FINANCIAL BREAKTHROUGHS

The number one thing argued about in marriages is, you guessed it: money. Our finances can be a burden to our relationships and a barrier to our freedom. In this week’s teaching two members of Crosspoint’s FREE Financial Counseling team sit down with Curt to lay out some practical and biblical ways to create some financial breakthroughs this year. Take a listen and checkout the free tools below.

The beginning of a New Year is about reflecting on the past and making changes for a more desired future. While we all want to go to new places in our relationships, our careers, the quality of our lives and even our relationship with God, there are barriers that hold us back.

While we want to make a change, we often don’t possess the tools to do it well — to create sustainable breakthroughs.

It’s more than a one-time quick fix, but instead everyday decisions that strengthen and persevere. Frequent decisions that strengthen our relationships, kick-start our careers, improve our health, advance our financial position, increase our production & expand our generosity.

Join us throughout the month of January as we seek to create everyday breakthroughs that allow us to go to new places in our lives.

Kicking this year’s inaugural series off with a heavy hitter like relational guru (and friend of Crosspoint), Scott McDonald, promises to shed to light on the way that a 20 second difficult conversation can change a relationship and make it better. Lead Pastor Curt Walters brings Scott in to help explain how communication is key in creating relational breakthroughs in the new year.

Scott McDonald hits the platform again this week helping explore how career breakthroughs can be hindered by giving into the “story telling” we all do in the work place. Everyone has a “public enemy #1″ in their jobs… but the stories we make up and begin to believe about them cause more damage than we may realize.

There is a God, in fact, only one God, and this God is bigger and better and closer than you can imagine.

This God has revealed himself in three forms: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Spirit. Nothing in creation “just happened,” this one God is the creator of everything. Now what’s fascinating is that this God made us in his image, which means we’re like him in many ways, but with one big difference — he’s God and we’re not. He’s loving and just and good and more than anything, desires to be in a relationship with us. Yet, God so values that the human experience have both love and choice, that he took what has been called the Divine Risk. We have the freedom to respond to the relationship God’s initiated with us … or not.

We are free to choose to live outside of the realm of the life God created for us, as He reveals in the Bible, and when we do so, we are disconnected from Him by our sin. Put another way, many of the choices we make move us closer to God or further from him. We all do it – and we’ll continue to do so. And, even then, God continues to love and pursue us.

This is where Jesus comes on the scene. God loves us so deeply, that he sent his only son, Jesus, to die so the rest of us could live. Why would he do this? Well, the cost of making choices that separate us from God was spiritual death – at least until Jesus came and his death paid everyone’s debt.

That’s serious love – in fact some call it scandalous – we call it Grace!

Because of that serious love, this gift from God is waiting for anyone who wants to receive it. God gives grace freely and abundantly, and as for us, we need only to decide whether or not to believe and receive this stuff. If we decide to believe it, it begins to change everything — Jesus called it “new life.” It can start now and never stop.

It’s OK to have a lot of questions along the way, we’re still growing in our understanding as well. Although God reveals things to us (including what he’s revealed about himself in the Bible), he remains mysterious and wonderful.

SUNDAYS 9 & 10:30AM// WHAT TO EXPECT

TEACHING//
The last thing that Jesus came to do was start a new religion. He came to bring us back into harmony with God – to make life as it should be. His teaching evidence this. We want to know what he taught & what the Bible teaches. We are connected back to the beginning of time… and what we learn now will shape the future as our children will know it. LISTEN HERE >>

WORSHIP//
We sing when we worship at Crosspoint. It’s not the only for of worship. Singing is to worship as Q-tip is to cotton swab. It’s just one of many forms. Worship is more than just an hour in an auditorium…
It’s more than singing… acting… art… feeling… It’s about choosing to be part of something bigger than ourselves. MORE >>

KIDS//
Whether you’re thinking about stopping by for just one Sunday or you’re interested in sticking with us for a while, we’re glad you’re checking out CROSSPOINT KIDS. We know your kids are important to you. They’re important to us, too! No step is skipped to help your child[ren] have a safe, educational, and exciting time in all of our kids areas. MORE >>

Have you ever felt like an unlikely candidate for something that was put in front of you?
Have struggles ever tempted you not to follow through?
Has an event of magnitude brought new light to a situation?

In “A Flicker of Hope” we follow the Christmas story adapted from the Gospels of Matthew and Luke from the unique perspective of the donkey who carried Mary and the unborn baby Jesus to Bethlehem at the request of Gabriel. Donkey’s role of friend, protector, and unlikely messenger give insight into the heart of service that runs through the nativity story.

Written and illustrated to spark conversation for the whole family, Donkey’s story isn’t just one of the excitement of the birth of the Christ but delves into some of the more deeply seeded issues of losing faith in yourself, God’s provision and strength, and spiritual warfare present in many people’s lives today.

We hope that you find this story able to fit into your holiday schedules and perhaps even create a new holiday tradition for you and your family.

Merry Christmas!
